Team Overview

Our dedicated management team is structured to provide professional, reliable, consistent, safe, and cost-effective fire protection, fire safety and fire prevention solutions. Our fire risk assessors, engineers, and technicians range from ex fire service personnel with over 60 years of collective operational firefighting experience to Graduate students. All staff are fully trained by the UK’s leading safety bodies.

These experienced engineers specialise in designing fire prevention solutions are individually tailored to meet your specific requirements for your premises. This ensures your business and premises are fully compliant with current British Standards and The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, and the associated Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006. You can therefore have complete confidence that you will receive first class services from accredited and certified fire protection, fire safety and fire prevention specialists.

Lewis Ramsay


Lewis is a former Fire Service Principal Officer with over 30 years’ experience. He has occupied a range of Director positions across Fire Safety Enforcement, Community Safety Engagement, Fire Investigation and Response & Resilience. Lewis has led policy development on a Scottish and UK wide basis and has a long association with the Fire sector and its trade associations.

Brian Dempsie

Managing Director

Brian is a former Firefighter who joined Strathclyde Fire & Rescue in 2006. He left the service with 12 years’ experience in both operations and fire safety. He started Firelink in 2017 and has developed the group since.

Jim Wotherspoon

Managing Director

Jim is a Director and shareholder in the Firelink Group. Jim has run several successful companies over a 30-year period and brings a vast experience in sales, marketing and operations.

Thomas Sinton

Commercial Director

Tom brings 27 years’ experience of Fire Fighting and Fire Safety for his service with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and Strathclyde Fire & Rescue. Tom retired from the service as a Senior Officer and is qualified in a range of Fire Safety, Health & Safety and public sector leadership areas.

Caitlin Wotherspoon

Finance Manager

Caitlin oversees the operational management of the Firelink group and leads the support functions to ensure the audit and inspections teams are resourced and ready to engage with clients.

John Teevan

Project Manager

John studied Building Surveying for 4 years at Glasgow Caledonian University. John brings experience from working with several surveying firms and more recently has gained over 5 years’ experience in Project Management and Property Maintenance. John oversees all elements of Project Management and works with clients to ensure packages are bespoke and meets their needs.

Dean Carroll

Project Manager

Dean is one of the project managers for Firelink, he deals with our clients daily from the office & on site. He came from an engineering background so understands the technical aspect of what we are achieving. He has great relationships with our clients & conducts his projects in a professional manner.

Gerard McManus

Fire Safety Consultant

Gerard served for 25 years with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and Strathclyde Fire & Rescue. He brings a long operational experience together with knowledge of Fire Safety regulations. As a Fire Safety Enforcement Officer, he formed part of the regulation team which oversaw the Olympic Games in 2012 and Commonwealth Games in 2014. Gerard holds several fire safety qualifications and has great vocational experience derived from both his work with the Fire Service and private practice.

Brian Byrne

Fire Safety Consultant

Brian served with the Fire service for 30 years, Initially with Strathclyde Fire and Rescue service, and then with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service from 2013 until 2021, in various operational firefighting and training roles, latterly gaining qualifications in Legislative Fire Safety and Fire Risk Assessment. Prior to retiring in February 2021, he served as a senior officer in Fire Safety Enforcement within a Local Senior Officer (LSO) Area. He was responsible for overseeing the continual improvement and maintenance of fire safety standards within relevant premises in the LSO Area, providing appropriate guidance, and assisting Duty Holders to achieve legislative compliance with The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005.

Andrew Ramsay

Fire Risk Assessor

Andrew graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) First-Class degree in Building Surveying.
Andrew also acquired experience in London and Surrey working with a Fire Risk Consultancy firm and shadowing the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service as a means of conducting research for his Dissertation project. To date, Andrew has obtained the AlFireE qualification by becoming an Associate Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers.

David studied Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology before progressing and graduating from Glasgow Caledonian with a degree in Building Surveying. David brings knowledge of building design and construction with a strong knowledge of IT programs and design packages.
